GardenPal ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile and web applications. GardenPal is a one-time purchase app ($3.99) with no subscription or recurring fees.
1. Information We Collect
Data You Provide
- Garden Data: Plants you add to your garden tracker, planting dates, locations, and notes
- Tasks: Garden tasks you create (watering, weeding, harvesting)
- Location (Optional): City/town name for weather forecasts (not GPS coordinates)
- Contact Information: Name and email when you contact support
Automatically Collected Data
- Device Information: Operating system, browser type, device model (for bug fixes)
- Usage Statistics: App features used and crash reports (anonymous)
2. How We Store Your Data
Local Storage Only: All your garden data, tasks, and settings are stored locally on your device using IndexedDB (web) or local storage (mobile). We do not store this data on our servers.
This means:
- ✅ Your data never leaves your device
- ✅ We cannot access your garden information
- ✅ App works offline after initial setup
- ⚠️ Data is tied to your device — clearing app data or uninstalling removes it
3. How We Use Your Information
We use information only for:
- Providing core app functionality (moon calculations, plant database, weather)
- Improving app performance and fixing bugs
- Responding to your support requests
- Understanding which features are most popular (anonymized)
We do NOT:
- ❌ Sell your data to third parties
- ❌ Display advertisements
- ❌ Track you across websites or apps
- ❌ Require account creation or login
4. Third-Party Services
Weather Data
Open-Meteo — When you set your location, we request weather forecasts from Open-Meteo's free API. Only your city coordinates are sent. No tracking. Open-Meteo Privacy Policy

Nominatim OpenStreetMap — Converts your city name to coordinates for weather lookups. No tracking or personal data collection. OSM Privacy Policy
Analytics (Optional)
We may use privacy-focused analytics (e.g., Plausible) for anonymous usage stats. No cookies, no personal data, no cross-site tracking.
5. Cookies and Tracking
We do not use cookies for tracking.
We use essential browser storage (localStorage, IndexedDB) to save your garden data, preferences, and location. This is local storage for app functionality — not tracking.
6. Data Security
- HTTPS encryption for all requests
- No server-side storage of personal garden data
- Secure contact form handling via Formspree
7. Children's Privacy
GardenPal is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe your child has provided personal information through the contact form, please email gardenpal@ldcoda.com.
8. Your Rights
- Access: Garden data is stored locally on your device
- Deletion: Clear all app data in settings or uninstall
- Correction: Edit garden data directly in the app
